Día de Muertos
Join us for our Día de Muertos celebration on November 1, 2025 from 4-6 PM at the University YMCA (1001 S. Wright Street)
Día de Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, is a Latin American holiday where families welcome the souls of their deceased loved ones. Although this holiday is thought to be a sad holiday, it is not! Dia de los Muertos is about celebration and to be reminded of the moments we shared with those who have passed.
This year, join La Casa and our campus & Latine-based organization for various Día de Muertos events around campus to celebrate, reflect, and honor our traditions.
Día de Muertos Community Celebration | Nov 1 | 4-6 pm
Share photos of your loved ones who have passed to honor them on our community ofrenda, 'Nuestra Ofrenda' for Día de Muertos. Ofrendas offer those who have passed on an area to come home to as we remember their legacies. To share a photo for Nuestra Ofrenda, please click here. Please note, you must be logged in using an Illinois Account.
The community ofrenda will be displayed during our Día de Muertos Celebration on November 1, 2025 from 4-6PM. This event features a large community ofrenda, dedicated altares made by student organizations, traditional foods such as tamales & pan de muerto, facepainting, crafts, and more!
La Casa Cultural Latina invites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and all community members to attend and partake in a beautiful event dedicated to those we love.
